The Comedy of Errors
JULY 10 TO AUGUST 7 • Rexville-Blackrock AMPHITHEATRE
In a city of fleeting fame, two newcomers stumble into a Hollywood determined to rewrite their lives faster than they can read it.
“If everyone knows us and we know none, ’Tis time, I think, to trudge, pack and be gone.”
Shakespeare’s wildest comedy unfolds in a city of bright lights and quick tempers, where twins separated at birth collide without knowing it, and every greeting, debt, and declaration of love lands on the wrong man. What begins as a simple visit spirals into a tangle of misplaced affections, property, and spouses, and friends: the kind of confusion only Shakespeare could orchestrate.
Directed by Susan Weingarten, this brisk, screwball staging brings Golden Age sparkle to a tale where the identity slips, reality bends, and comedy build to a revelation as satisfying as it is absurd.
